Egypt's High Elections Committee (HEC) said it is set to announce the list of candidates chosen to contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the media reported.
Applications were accepted until September 12 with the election process set to start on October 17, Al Ahram news reported.
However, in the governorates of Qena and Qous, the deadline for candidacy applications was extended till Tuesday after a recent court ruling on re-drawing constituency boundaries.
So far, some 900 people have applied to run, bringing the number of prospective candidates to 5,936.
The election will take place in October, November and December.
