Cairo, June 19 (IANS/WAM) Egypt is proud of its deep-rooted fraternal ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and its people, an Egyptian foreign ministry spokesperson has said.

The relations with the UAE were based on mutual respect and joint interests, and would not be affected by any statements here or there, said spokesperson Badr Abdel Aaty in an official statement.

The Egyptian foreign ministry was closely following up through the Egyptian embassy in Abu Dhabi, the conditions of detained Egyptian citizens in the UAE, noting that the embassy takes necessary measures to provide care and legal assistance to them, he added.
