The makers of medical drama TV series "EK Nayi Ummeed - Roshni" have made certain modifications in the storyline for wider reach and better connect with the audiences.
"We were showcasing the drama related to the family of doctors till now but the basic change that we're bringing about now is the patient's universe. We're planning to show the lives of the patients and their perspectives so that the audience can identify with it," producer Sanjay Tripathi told IANS in an exclusive interview.
"Earlier we used to show the patient just as a case from the point of view of the doctor. But now even patients and their families will play an important role in the show," he added.
"EK Nayi Ummeed - Roshni" is the story of a family of doctors with the title character of Roshni played by Pooja Gaur, the youngest and the most promising doctor, who takes a strong stand on numerous issues.
"The change is not exactly (mentioned) in the script. Till now the story was focusing on Roshni and challenges in her personal and professional life. It's just that we're expanding the perspective of the audience and also including the point of view of what the patients go through," she said.
"With this change more people would be able to connect with the show as it would be every layman's story now." she added.
According to Tripathi, one of the main reasons behind the change in the story was the audience response.

"We observed that our show is extremely popular overseas like in London as it was a bit classy. So its viewership was basically in the urban pockets and some other special areas. But I feel in India the audience needs a bit more emotional and personal connect," he said.
"When people feel that it is not just the story of the doctor, but is the story of people like us who go to the hospital, they'll relate to it even more." he added.
"EK Nayi Ummeed- Roshni" also stars Divya Seth, Amol Palekar and Raghubir Yadav among others.
