FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique was rushed to hospital Monday for an emergency operation for appendicitis.
The former Celta coach, who was named as the replacement for Gerardo 'Tata' Martino at the end of the season, was taken to the Mutua de Terrassa hospital after suffering serious pains and tests confirmed he was suffering from acute appendicitis, he was taken to the operating theater, reports Xinhua.
The 42-year-old had been working on planning Barca's squad for the coming season and it looks as if it will be a busy summer with several big-name players such as Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song and possibly Dani Alves and Alexis Sanchez likely to leave the club with several big name signings arriving to replace them.
Barcelona have already confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Ter Stegen and the return of loan players Rafinha and Gerard Deulofeu for the coming campaign.
The club has confirmed it will issue an official communique with an update on the coach's heath at the end of the operation.
