England football coach Roy Hodgson on Monday named Manchester United's teenage striker Marcus Rashford in the initial 26-man squad for Euro 2016.

The 18-year-old has been impressive in his debut season for United, netting seven goals from 16 games.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere and Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend have also been called in for the competition which begins from June 10 in France, England's football governing body the Football Association (FA) said in a statement.

However, the likes of Theo Walcott and Phil Jagielka have not been included in the list.

The bulk of the squad will assemble on Wednesday May 18. Only Manchester United and Liverpool players can report later as they have the FA Cup and the Europa League final to attend.

England will lock horns against Turkey in a friendly match on Sunday before taking on Australia on May 29.
