The ICC Champions Trophy Group A match between England and New Zealand on Tuesday was halted for a minute at 11 a.m. (GMT) to observe a minute's silence in memory of the victims of the London terror attack which left seven people dead and dozens injured over the weekend.

Although it is not a new trend for players to pay their respects in the aftermath of a tragic event, this is perhaps the first time that a match was halted in between so that players can observe a minute's silence.

This was because the whole of the United Kingdom on Tuesday observed a minute's silence at 11 a.m. to pay their respects to the victims of the London attack.

Posting a picture of English players observing a minute's silence, International Cricket Council (ICC) wrote on Twitter: "A moment to remember those sadly taken before their time in London."

After the fourth ball of the seventh over was bowled by Tim Southee to Alex Hales, players from both the teams converged on the ground to mark the occasion with a minute's silence.
