Espanyol on Wednesday confirmed that striker Felipe Caicedo has moved to Italy's Lazio for 2.5 million euros ($2.9 million).

La Liga side issued a statement in which it thanked the Ecuadorian striker for his professionalism and the moments of joy he brought for the Spanish club and its fans throughout his career in Spain, reports Efe.

Serie A Lazio also confirmed the deal in a brief statement on its official website. The Italian club welcomed the 28-year-old player.

Caciedo stayed at Espanyol for three seasons, in which he appeared in a total of 103 official matches and scored 24 goals.

The Ecuadorian began his football career in his country at Rocafuerte and then moved to Switzerland's Basel in the 2006-07 season where he stayed for two seasons.

Caciedo joined Manchester City in 2008, when he stayed for two seasons in the Premier League. He moved to several clubs afterwards, including Portugal's Sporting and Spain's Malaga and Levante.
