Ethiopia's ruling party EPRDF and its allies have won a landslide victory in parliament elections held in the weekend, according to preliminary results announced by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia on Wednesday.
The provisional count shows the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front and its allies won more than 400 seats out of 547 seats in parliament, Xinhua news agency reported.
The weekend's elections were Ethiopia's first since the demise of Meles Zenawi, who died in office after 21 years in power. The ruling party was widely expected to win even before the elections.
