The chairman of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) Friday started his visit to the South Caucasus country of Georgia to boost military cooperation between the EU and Georgia.

During the visit, General Patrick de Rousiers met Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze, chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, over Georgia's participation in EU-led operations including the peacemaking mission in the Central African Republic, in which 140 Georgian troops participated, Xinhua reported.

"The Central African Republic president and EU representatives are grateful to the Georgian military forces which help ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the local population," he said.

Kapanadze also briefed his visitor during the meeting about Georgia's military reform.

"We are determined to further deepen the EU-Georgian relationship in the military sphere," Kapanadze said.
