Soak in the festive spirit with some of the finest and most popular Indo-European culinary creations of the Anglo-Indian community settled in the city at a food festival here.

At Oh! Calcutta's Anglo-Indian Food Festival beginning Friday, one could sample gourmet marvels that are specific to the city, which once housed the highest number of the community.

"The speciality of Anglo-Indian food is that they incorporate Indian spices and flavours in European style dishes. Therefore, the food bursts with flavours."

"This fusion is a mark of their mixed European and Indian culture," chef Subir Deb told IANS.

In addition to an array of stews, roasts, croquettes and cutlets, the signature Kolkata-based dishes one must try are the Entally Chicken Sausage (a unique masala sausage) and the Dacres Lane Roast Chicken.

"The meat ball curry, the fish pantheras (a pancake roll around a filling of spiced and minced fish) would also make for hearty meals," said Deb.

Running till Dec 26, the festival spread includes Yellow Rice with Butter, Cheese Croquettes, Frithath Mutton Curry, Vegetable Tetrazini, Caramel Pudding, Bread and Butter Pudding.
