In view of high ridership observed on the eve of Raksha Bandhan and the day itself for the past few years, the Delhi Metro will run extra train trips Aug 9 and 10, a statement said Friday.
Additional staff will be deployed to cater to the rush of commuters expected on these two days.
"In view of the high ridership observed by the Delhi Metro on the eve of Raksha Bandhan and the day itself for the past few years, it was decided to run over 190 extra train trips Aug 9 and 419 extra trips Aug 10," said a statement issued by the Delhi Metro.
On an average, the Delhi Metro makes around 2,800 trips across all the lines.
It said 70 additional shifts of guards and customer facilitation agents at 42 major metro stations will help commuters on these two days.
More staff will be deployed to handle the load on the ticketing system. The staff on 78 metro stations will do 92 additional shifts.

Last year, over 26.5 lakh passengers travelled by metro on a day before Raksha Bandhan, while 22 lakh travelled on the day of the festival.
The stations with extra deployment of staff include Dilshad Garden, Shahdara, Seelampur, Shastri Park, Pitampura, Jahangir Puri, Adarsh Nagar, GTB Nagar, Yamuna Bank, Uttam Nagar East, Nawada, Noida City Centre, Botanical Garden, Noida Sec-18 and MG Road.
