US President Donald Trump went after the "fake news media" on Tuesday, accusing the country's press of publishing false stories.
He said the press had descended to a "new low".
"The Fake News Media has never been so wrong or so dirty. Purposely incorrect stories and phony sources to meet their agenda of hate. Sad!" Trump wrote on Twitter.
The President did not specify which particular story had triggered his online fuming.
Trump had repeatedly accused the country's media of printing incorrect stories related to his administration.
Trump's latest tweet came hours before Attorney General Jeff Sessions was set to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Politico reported.
Sessions's testimony followed former FBI Director James Comey's highly-anticipated appearance before the same panel last week over possible ties between Trump's campaign and Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential race.

Sessions will likely face tough questions over his dealings with Russian officials during the poll campaign and whether he had a role in the firing of Comey.
Comey said that Sessions may have had an undisclosed third meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
