FC Pune City defender Ravanan Dharmaraj has been suspended for two matches after being found guilty of 'misconduct against opponents or persons other than match officials' in the ongoing edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) under the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Code Article 49 'D'.
Ravanan was punished for his violent conduct in the home match against Chennaiyin FC on October 23, where he stomped striker Dudu Omagbemi's leg.
Ravanan's action was reviewed under the AIFF Disciplinary Code's retrospective ban, which authorises the National Federation Disciplinary Committee to sanction serious infringements that escaped the match officials' attention.
As a result of the ban, Ravanan will not be available for selection for the matches against FC Goa on Thursday and against Atletico de Kolkata on Sunday, a statement from the ISL said.
Pune are currently seventh in the table, with just six points from six matches.
