Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), India's apex fashion body, has partnered with Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) to enable a cross-cultural exchange of designer talent between the two nations and platforms.
As part of the first year of the exchange, Indonesian designer Novita Yunus, with her brand Batik Chic, will showcase her creations at the Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Autumn Winter 2017 in association with Maybelline New York, read a statement issued by FDCI.
Yunus will present her collection in the capital on March 15.
FDCI President Sunil Sethi says the exchange between the two countries will make a "spectacular rendition of cross-cultural understanding".
"We hope to create more avenues of engagement for designers, to explore the creative potential of both the countries. We would like to thank the Ambassador of India to Indonesia, Nengcha Lhouvum Mukhopadhaya in Jakarta, who has facilitated this partnership," Sethi added.

Even organisers of JFW are excited to explore the collaboration.
"The rapid business growth of Indonesian designers has encouraged our international partners, such as FDCI and Embassy of India in Jakarta, to initiate a collaboration, especially with Indonesian fashion forward designers," Lenni Tedja, Director of JFW, said.
"JFW, Embassy of India in Jakarta and FDCI share similar mission, to develop the fashion industry in respected countries, and to bring forth designers from both countries to international stages," Tedja added.
The fashion extravaganza is a four-day event which will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and end on March 18.
