Italian sports car major Ferrari launched the California T at a price of Rs.3.45 crore here on Thursday. The car was first unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show.
The hard top convertible belongs to the grand tourer segment which combines the performance of a sports car and the practicality of a city car while offering a 2+2 seating arrangement, the company said.
According to Aurelien Sauvard, head of sales for Ferrari West Asia and Africa, the company would be offering its entire lineup of cars including the California T, 488 GTB, 458 Spider, 458 Speciale, F12 Berlinetta and the FF through its two dealers in Mumbai and Delhi.
The range starts at Rs.3.45 crore for the California T -- making it the most affordable Ferrari in India -- going up to Rs.4.87 crore for the F12 Berlinetta. The waiting period for the cars is likely to be around four to five months.
"We have received eight bookings for the California T from Mumbai and Delhi. We will start the deliveries in a few months," Sauvard told IANS adding that the country at present has around 50 Ferrari cars on the roads.
As the cars are being imported into the country as completely built units (CBU) thereby attracting heavy duty, Sauvard said Ferrari would "likely consider" assembling the cars in India in future.
"We are looking at it (assembling cars in India) but our top priority at present is to have a strong dealership and service network. We can assemble cars here (in future) if the need arises," Sauvard told IANS.
