Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade said he wished Vincenzo Montella could remain at the helm of the Italian Serie A club for years to come.

Prade said Monday, Montella had won club hierarchy's approval and could stay on despite the possibilty of Fiorentina missing out on Champions League qualification, reports Xinhua.

"Montella is a coach we like, as we like his way of thinking," he said. "We want him to stay for many years."

"We have a real identity and intensity when we play. We, Roma and Napoli are the teams who have played the best football this season," he said.

He suggested that Montella had created a favourable environment for him in Florence.

"There is a strong rapport between coach, club, owners, fans and the city," he said.

Prade was confident that Montella will bring more improvements to Fiorentina.

"Our desire is to always improve. We want to get back into the Champions League as it would completely change our situation," he said.

"It is a competition that gives you visibility. Fiorentina need to think about getting there, even though in the Italian league there are at least six teams who are financially stronger than us and are aiming for the same goals as we are," he added.
