Police filed FIR on Thursday against three Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on charges of assaulting a woman in Delhi Assembly premises last week, after she filed a complaint against them.

Police said the complainant, Simranjit Kaur Bedi, was waiting outside the main building of the Assembly on June 28 when the alleged incident happened.

"Bedi alleged in her complaint to Civil Line Police Station that AAP MLAs Jarnail Singh, Amanatullah Khan and Somnath Bharti confined her in a room (within the assembly premises) and abused and manhandled her," a senior police officer said.

Bedi said in her complaint that she was first beaten up by Amanatullah and Jarnail Singh and then Bharti joined them.

"We have registered an FIR against Jarnail Singh, Amanatullah Khan and Somnath Bharti based on the woman's complaint and investigation is underway," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh however said that it is a conspiracy against party's legislators and added that the woman had attacked him in the past and then filed an FIR against him.

He said that she is filing the same type of complaint for the fourth time.

"The Delhi Police is controlled by Centre... they're (the BJP government) misusing government agencies to threaten us, but we will not be threatened," he added.

AAP MLA Alka Lamba said that it very sad that laws which are made for women's security are being used as political tools.

Last week, the Delhi Assembly had referred an incident of Bedi allegedly using abusive language with AAP legislators in the MLA lounge of the assembly to the Privileges Committee.

Bedi had also told the media that she was part of AAP till she slapped Sanjay Singh.
