At least three farmhouses were partially damaged in a fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon in the Aravali foothills on the Gurgaon-Faridabad road, officials said. No one was injured in the blaze.
Trees and plants were destroyed in around 100 acres of land near Ghatta village. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, officials said.
When people called the fire brigade office, the dialled landline telephone number was found to be "out of service". The mobile number of Gurgaon's chief fire officer also responded with service provider's recorded message "Invalid or incorrect number".
People then called a private fire service, and over half a dozen fire tenders managed to douse the blaze.
