A court in Bangladesh Wednesday awarded the death sentence to five militants of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) for killing a lawyer.
Former public prosecutor Haider Hossain was shot dead April 11, 2007, while he was returning home in Jhalakati district town, bdnews24.com reported.
Additional District Sessions Court Judge Abdul Halim delivered the verdict Wednesday against the five JMB activists -- Aminul alias Amir Hossain, Bashir Hossain, Billal Hossain, Mohammad Mehedi Hasan alias Tanvir and Murad Hossain.
Bashir and Billal are absconding.
Top JMB leaders Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai had been given death sentences for the killings of two assistant judges in Jhalakati. They were hanged in 2007.
