Five juveniles have been arrested for stabbing a 21-year-old youth to death on a crowded street in broad daylight, police said here Wednesday.
The murder occurred Tuesday around 3.30 p.m. at Madangir in Ambedkar Nagar area of south Delhi.
Sachin, the deceased, was driving a bike with a pillion rider who managed to escape the attack.
"The victim was mercilessly killed by five juveniles who came running towards him with knives on Madangir's busy street. There were locals around who did not attempt to stop the assault, presumably due to fear," said a police official.
"As the whole incident was captured in a CCTV installed in a nearby building, we managed to apprehend the five juveniles involved in the murder," said the official.
A police official said that the victim and the accused belong to Madangir area.
During investigation, the police said, it was revealed that the victim used to collect extortion money from the accused that led them to plan and execute his murder.
