Four civilians and a policeman were killed Thursday in two separate bomb attacks in eastern Afghanistan, Xinhua reported citing authorities.
In one attack, three civilians and one Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed when a bomb was detonated by the roadside in Mehtarlam city, the provincial capital of eastern province of Laghman, the provincial government said in a statement.
Following the blast, which occurred at around 8.30 a.m., police launched an investigation and arrested a suspected militant, the statement noted.
In another incident, a child was killed in a bomb attack in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of neighbouring Nangarhar province, a security source said.
