Five people, including three of a family, were killed when a truck in which they were travelling rolled down into a deep gorge in Mizoram, police said Tuesday.
"The mishap occurred Monday night on the Lunglei-Aizawl road in southern Mizoram. The truck of a private company of Assam fell into a gorge, killing all the five people on the spot," a police official said.
The dead included the vehicle driver and his assistant, both residents of Hailakandi district of southern Assam. The remaining three were inhabitants of Mizoram.
Police are probing the cause of the accident.
