Four people, two of them juveniles, were arrested for robbing a local jeweller and gold worth over Rs.1 crore was recovered from them, police said Thursday.
Deepak, Michael and two juveniles stole a bag containing over 4 kg of gold worth over Rs.1 crore from the car of the victim, who owns a jewellery shop in old Delhi, while he was on his way to Karol Bagh in central Delhi May 16.
According to police, upon reaching Rajghat, jeweller Shubham realized that one of his car tyres was punctured and stopped by the roadside.
"As he got busy changing the car's tyre, a few minutes later a passing auto-rickshaw driver informed him that some people on motorcycles had stolen a bag from his car," said police.
Police received a tip-off May 19 about a meeting of the four accused men and laid a trap near a temple in south Delhi's Munirka area where they were expected to come.
"They were to meet one of their associates to sell the gold," said a police officer.
