At least four people were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb blast in Kabul Tuesday, media reported.

"Four army personnel were killed and 12 others, including six civilians, sustained injuries when a bomb blast targeted a bus carrying national army personnel in Chilston area in Kabul," Xinhua reported citing a defence ministry statement.

An official said a roadside bomb was set off by militants at around 7 a.m. as the bus was passing by.

Taliban militants fighting the government to regain power have intensified activities, mostly in the form of suicide bombs and roadside bombings, over the past couple of months.
