France kept their unbeaten run against England at the international level as they won 1-0 in a Group F match of the Women's World Cup here.

Eugenie Le Sommer scored the only goal on Tuesday as she blasted a powerful 30-metre right-foot shot at the top of the penalty area in the 29th minute, reports Xinhua.

According to FIFA, France has not lost to England since 1974, including recent wins in the quarterfinal in Germany 2011 and in the group stage in Euro 2013.

In another Group F game, Colombia held Mexico to a 1-1 draw to make the group more complicated for advancing. Veronica Perez's curled shot was palmed to the crossbar of Colombia goalkeeper Stefany Castano and bounced onto the ground. The goal-line technology shows the ball cross the line and Mexico went ahead 1-0 after 36 minutes.

Mexico seemed to pocket three points before Daniela Monyota fired the ball onto the crossbar and into the net to tie it (82nd minute).

Constant rain and wind made it difficult for both matches at Stadium of University of Moncton, which is 25 km to Canadian east shores.
