It was a fun-filled Sunday for 'tiny bookworms' in the national capital who were enthralled during a story-telling session where the French children's classics were read out.
The Goût de France, Institut français India and Tota Books organised the event at the Full Circle book store at Khan Market where children, accompanied by their parents, gathered in large numbers.
Author Sharmila Sarkar who has translated the French classic written by Sylviane Donnio into English, titled "I'd Rather Eat A Child", read out the lines from the pages.
"People think its easier to write for children but it's not. You have to be very careful with words for children. The language has to be easy as well as communicative," Sarkar told IANS.
"It was really surprising to see kids listening to the whole session with patience. They laughed over on various episodes," she added.
Sarkar said that parents should start giving books to their children from the very young age so that the love for reading is generated.
