French president arrives in Delhi

French President Francois Hollande on Sunday evening arrived in New Delhi from Chandigarh for a three-day visit to India.

He was received at Palam Air Force station by union Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar.

Hollande, who chose to start his India visit from Chandigarh, a city designed by French architect Le Corbusier, was met at the famous tourist attraction Rock Garden by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier on Sunday.

After touring the site, the two leaders also visited the Capitol Complex that houses the seats of government of both Haryana and Punjab, and the Government Museum and Art Gallery.

Hollande and Modi later attended a CEOs' Forum and then an India-France Business Summit.

On Monday, Hollande and Modi will hold a bilateral dialogue following which a number of agreements are scheduled to be signed.

The two leaders will inaugurate the Interim Secretariat of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and lay the foundation-stone of the ISA headquarters near New Delhi.

On Tuesday, Hollande will attend the Republic Day parade on Rajpath as chief guest, becoming the fifth serving French president to do so.
