A four-member French senate delegation, led by Jean-Francois Humbert, Friday called upon the international community to recognise the non-violent struggle of the people in Tibet.

They also expressed their desire to visit Tibet to ascertain the situation there.

"We unanimously affirmed that the suffering of the Tibetan people inside Tibet is real and we condemn the cultural genocide that is going on inside Tibet," Humbert, president of the Tibet Group, told reporters here.

"We urge the international community to recognise the non-violent struggle of the Tibetan people," he added.

Humbert and senators Michel Berson, Bernard Fournier and Andre Gattolin are currently touring Dharamsala, the headquarters of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).

Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has lived in India since fleeing his homeland in 1959. The Tibetan government-in-exile is headquartered in this Himachal Pradesh hill town.
