Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Chairman Ganjendra Chauhan was shown black flags by the students at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication here in the Madhya Pradesh capital city on Wednesday.
Students alleged that the central government brought him in the FTII to "saffronise" the institution.
Chauhan, in response, told reporters that the students have been misguided by some people, and added that dissent is important in a democracy.
He was here to attend an event held at the university campus.
