Darmstadt have wrapped up the transfer of Hamit Altintop from Turkish outfit Galatasaray, both football clubs have announced.
Bottom-placed Darmstadt reinforced their squad with the signing of veteran midfielder Altintop, who penned a deal until the end of the season, reports Xinhua.
"It is certainly something special that such a player, with such... experience joins Darmstadt," the team's head coach Torsten Frings told the club's official homepage on Tuesday.
The Turkey international knows the German Bundesliga well as he played for Schalke and Bayern Munich before joining Real Madrid in 2011. Altintop played for Galatasaray since 2012, where he provided one goal in 61 appearances.
"In the past years, the team has already proven what it is capable of. We have now 16 games ahead of us in which we will try everything," Altintop said.
Darmstadt face Eintracht Frankfurt at the closer of the 19th Bundesliga round on Sunday.
