Riyadh, March 4 (IANS/WAM) Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at a train station in Kunming city of southwest China's Yunnan province that claimed 29 lives and injured more than 130 others.

"It as a heinous crime, which is incompatible with human values and principles," he was Tuesday quoted as saying in a statement.

Al Zayani expressed his profound sorrow and offered solace to the families of the victims and to the people and the government of China, stressing that the GCC condemned all acts of terrorism and extremism and reiterated the group's permanent support for international efforts to combat and eliminate them.

The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
