Hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani on Friday completed various formalities at the passport office here for getting a passport.
Geelani had applied for passports for himself and his wife last month for travelling to Saudi Arabia to see their ailing daughter.
Geelani's application had generated a row with the Bharatiya Janata Party opposing it.
The Peoples Democratic Party, however, backed his request, calling it a humanitarian issue.
Geelani, who had been under house arrest for several weeks, was allowed to proceed to the passport office on Boulevard road after lifting restrictions on his movements on Friday.
