Janardan Singh Gehlot was elected the president of the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) for the next four years, it was announced after the Annual General Congress (AGC) of the federation, conducted here on Friday.
Observer and Director of International Affairs Olympic Council of Asia Vinod Tiwari was also present in the AGC of the IKF where 22 member countries participated.
"Mohammed Sarwar of Pakistan proposed the name of Janardan Singh Gehlot for the post of president and Yeong Hak Yoon of Korea seconded the proposal. As there was no other nomination for the post of President, Gehlot was elected President of IKF for next 4 years," IKF said in a statement.
In the meeting, it was decided that IKF will support all minnow nations by providing playing mats besides sending coaches to develop the game of Kabaddi in the respective countries.
The IKF refused to give details regarding hosting the 2019 Kabaddi World Cup.
Among other developments, the England Kabaddi Association, headed by Ashok Das, was disaffiliated because of anti-Federation activities while Das was removed from all posts of the Europe Kabaddi Federation.
