The Georgian football federation (FFG) has announced the cancellation of online ticket sales for the UEFA Super Cup football match between FC Barcelona and Sevilla on August 11 here at the Boris Paichadze Stadium.
Ongoing technical problems with the ticketing website finally prompted the decision, as the site had been problematic for eight days since opening, reports Efe.
Thus, the website sold only 2,054 tickets out of the 24,000 reserved for Georgian fans.
The FFG said the tickets would be available for purchase to Georgian fans starting next week at sales outlets, while negotiations are underway with European football's governing body UEFA on how to sell the 7,000 tickets allocated to foreign fans.
The UEFA and FFG have also allocated 2,700 tickets for fans of both Spanish teams in the Super Cup tie.
Boris Paichadze Stadium can accommodate 53,000 spectators, but the Super Cup game attendance may be limited to 36,400 fans for security reasons.
