The bypoll for the Ghaziabad mayor's post on Sunday saw the lowest so far turnout of a mere 18 percent, an official said.
Of the 11,77,276 electorate, only 2,18,314 exercised their voting power, District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma said.
Among the voters, 86,377 women and 1,31,937 men cast their ballot. Polling was peaceful in the 80 wards of the city.
The mayor's post fell vacant after Telu Ram Kamboj died on August 8, 2015.
The main contest was between the BJP's Ashu Verma and Samajwadi Party's Sudan Rawat, though there were a total of 12 candidates in the fray, including Lal Man Singh Pal of the Congress.
