Fashion designer Henry Holland says members of band Girls Aloud refused to let him dress them when he was an aspiring stylist.

The British designer has revealed that before he made it big in the fashion industry, the "Something New" hitmakers refused to take his advice as they arrived for a cover shoot at Smash Hits magazine, where he worked as a stylist before launching his own label in 2008, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Speaking at this year's PPA magazine festival, the former judge of "Styled to Rock", said: "When I was working for Smash Hits as the stylist, Girls Aloud came in for a front cover shoot and they wouldn't allow me to dress them.

"They wouldn't let me go near them and had other people come in with them instead who could style them."

However, Holland, 32, insists there are no hard feelings between him and the former girl group, which consisted of Sarah Harding, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle.

He us now friends with Roberts.

"I remember Nicola didn't say a word to me. We would see each other at parties and she would just be so quiet. She was quiet for a long time but it's so funny because now we talk all the time and we are actually good friends.

"I remind her all the time of how she wouldn't speak to me even though she knew me, and we laugh about it," Holland said.
