India on Thursday retorted to Pakistan's four peace initiatives, saying "there was no need for four - just one is enough - give up terror and sit for talks".

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, speaking in Hindi at the UN General Assembly, also urged the UN in its 70th year to adopt the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT).

Referring to the four "new peace initiatives" proposed by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his address to the UNGA on Wednesday, she said Sharif had proposed four proposals, "There is no need for four, one is enough - give up terror and sit and talk".

She said this is one initiative that will bring resolution to all issues troubling ties with Pakistan.

Sushma said this is what was decided at the Ufa meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sharif. She said at Ufa, Russia, both sides decided to maintain peace and tranquility on the border and to discuss all aspects of terrorism, and the NSAs of both countries were to be tasked to discuss terror. She said the talks have not happened.

She said if both sides act on the Ufa agreement and are able to resolve the issues then India is ready to resume dialogue with Pakistan - "I want to announce this from this platform".

She also said the international community cannot differentiate between good and bad terror and the world should unite against terror.
