The BJP-led coalition government in Goa has dropped Gandhi Jayanti from its list of official holidays, the Congress claimed on Saturday.
Quoting the official gazette listing "commercial and industrial" holidays for 2015, Congress spokesperson Durgadas Kamat said the birthday of the Father of the Nation had been dropped from the list. However, the list has other holidays like Babasaheb Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Ganesh Chaturthi, Independence Day etc.
"This clearly shows the hidden agenda of the BJP government. This seems like it is just the beginning. Hope the government does not have holidays on Nathuram Godse's birth anniversary in the future," Kamat said.
"The holiday was consistent in the past gazettes under the "commercial and industrial holiday" classification, right until last year," Kamat added.
