"Fargo", a dark comedy-crime drama show inspired by an eponymous 1996 film, has bagged five nominations among the 11 categories of TV entertainers for the 72nd Golden Globe awards, to be held early next year. "True Detective" follows behind with four nominations.
The nominations were announced Thursday, and the winners for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association event will be declared Jan 11, 2015.
The best television series - drama category has "The Affair", "Downton Abbey", "Game of Thrones", "The Good Wife" and "House of Cards" in contention, while "Fargo", "The Missing", "The Normal Heart", "Olive Kitteridge" and "True Detective" are vying for a trophy in the best mini-series or motion picture made for television category.
In the best performance by an actor in a television series - drama bracket, Clive Owen ("The Knick"), Liev Schreiber ("Ray Donovan"), Kevin Spacey ("House Of Cards"), James Spader ("The Blacklist") and Dominic West ("The Affair") will have a tough fight.
Among the actresses competing in the same category are Claire Danes ("Homeland"), Viola Davis ("How To Get Away With Murder"), Julianna Marhulies ("The Good Wife"), Ruth Wilson ("The Affair") and Robin Wright ("House Of Cards").
"Girls", "Jane the Virgin", "Orange Is the New Black", "Silicon Valley" and "Transparent" will be competing in the best television series - comedy or musical category.
