Indian golfer Ajeetesh Sandhu finished the opening round in tied second spot after he fired four-under 67 in the weather-interrupted PGM MIDF KLGCC Championship here on Wednesday.

Local player M. Sasidaran grabbed the lead with 65 at the $50,0000 Asian Development Tour (ADT) event with Ajeetesh and Thai Poom Saksansin tied second.

Ajeetesh scored birdies on the ninth, 10th, 12th and 14th in a flawless round at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club East course, which is the second last stop on the 2015 ADT schedule.

Malaysian Sasidaran picked seven birdies against one bogey for his best score on the ADT this year. Defending champion Rizal Amin of Malaysia posted a disappointing six-over 77 to sit in tied 44th.

The 39-year-old Sasidaran, who is looking for a first ADT win, opened with four birdies in six holes before the play was suspended due to lightning threats for close to two hours.

A total of 66 players will return on Thursday morning to complete the first round.
