Goods worth Rs.25 crore looted in Delhi's biggest heist

In the biggest heist of its kind in the city, armed persons hijacked a truck carrying electronic goods worth Rs.25 crore around Wednesday midnight, the police said on Thursday.

Police said the truck, carrying electronic goods and machine parts from Samsung, was heading to Noida from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. As the truck reached near Sarita Vihar in south Delhi, it was intercepted and stopped by a some armed men in a car.

"The armed men got out of the car and beat up the driver and the helper. Then they disabled the GPS locator of the truck and drove it off," a police official said.

Samsung company was transporting components imported from Korea that included integrated circuits and motherboards of high-end mobile phones.

The truck was yet to be traced although several police teams were on the lookout for it. Four men have been detained in this connection, police said.

Officials said raids were being carried out in Mathura and other parts of western and central Uttar Pradesh following the incident.
