The National Green Tribunal has put on hold construction of a cycle track here as it would have led to thousands of trees being cut.
Petitioner's lawyer Rajendra Tyagi told IANS that the construction of the cycle track, over the 18 km long, has caused hundreds of trees to be cut and would have led thousands more to be cut.
He added that Ghaziabad was among the most polluted cities of the country.
The court of Justice Swantantra Kumar issued notice to the Ghaziabad Development Authority, divisional forest officer, municipal corporation and the Uttar Pradesh government and asked them to stop the construction of the cycle track.
