A guerrilla hideout was busted in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday and a quantity of arms and ammunition recovered, a defence official said.

"Based on specific information, the Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Samote (Rajouri) along with troops of Territorial Army and state police personnel from police station, Kandi recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a natural hideout in general area Khangar Forest of Rajouri," Col. S.D. Goswami, spokesman of army's Udhampur-headquartered northern command, told IANS.

The cache included an AK-56 rifle, two pistols, one under barrel grenade launcher, one 7.62 mm barrel, six magazines of AK-47, three rounds of rocket propelled grenade, two anti-tank rifle grenades, two UBGL grenades, two Chinese hand grenades, 120 rounds of AK-47, eight rounds of Pika rifle, thirty rounds of pistol ammunition, 166 rounds of .303 rifle, a Pouch and a solar plate, he said.

"The timely recovery of the cache has prevented any untoward incident in the area, thereby thwarting the evil designs of the terrorists," added Col. Goswami.
