The Gujarat unit of the Congress party has planned a five-day agitational programmes, including 'rail roko', in protest against the Narendra Modi government's demonetisation move and to highlight the hardship the people are facing because of it.
Gujarat Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki told reporters on Wednesday that from Thursday, the party would organise district-wise agitation programmes under which essential items like milk, fruits and vegetables will be taken to district collector offices and payment would be sought for the produce.
On November 25, the party would block railway and state bus transport movement across the state and will also hold scooter, cycle and tractor rallies, Solanki said.
The party cadres would storm the houses of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs and MLAs and seek Rs 100 notes in exchange for Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination.
He said the party will join nationwide strike declared by all opposition parties jointly on November 28 and ensure a successful Gujarat bandh.
Meanwhile, Congress workers on Wednesday held protest at Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office in Ahmedabad and dumped vegetables, milk and other rural produce at the gate.
