Five directors of an upscale club here on Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road have been booked for endangering the lives of their customers, police said on Sunday.

Charan Singh, Atul Kumar, Sarjeet Singh, Shamsher Singh and Rajesh Mann have been booked for endangering the life or personal safety of others, for public nuisance, disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant, and for acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

"After finding irregularities in the club, the case was registered against the accused. We have also withdrawn the no objection certificate (NOC) of the club issued by the police department," police officer Subhash Boken said.

"There were no proper or sufficient arrangements for rescue of visitors and club staff during emergency including in case of any incident of fire," he said.

Police have also written to the excise department and Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon to review the NOCs issued by them to the club.

A case has been registered at DLF-1 police station.

"Our investigation is on, further legal steps will be taken soon," the officer said.
