An Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) councillor here was booked for manhandling and threatening an executive engineer of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, police said Tuesday. The councillor claimed he was implicated for raising public issues.
Rishiraj Rana, councillor from New Palam Vihar, was booked for beating and threatening Executive Engineer R.P. Dahiya, police investigation officer Harmesh Chand told IANS.
"Rana has been booked for criminal intimidation, obstructing and voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty," Chand said, adding that the case was registered late Monday night at City Police Station.
"We conducted a raid to arrest Rana but he was not available at his house and office," Chand said.
Rana allegedly manhandled Dahiya Aug 7 after the corporation's meeting in the mini-secretariat building here.
"Rana misbehaved with me outside the office of the deputy commissioner. After some time, he beat me up in the parking lot and threatened me of dire consequences," Dahiya said in his complaint.

Rana told IANS that he raised the issue of bad roads and water logging in Vishnu Garden, Sawroop Garden, New Palam Vihar and Jahajgarh area of his ward but instead of tackling the problems the executive engineer implicated him in the case.
