A former administrator of a multinational company accused in a rape case has been arrested from Maharashtra, police said Sunday.

Rohan Jagdale, 35, was arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Pune two-and-half months after a case was registered against him.

A police team headed by officer Sandeep Kumar camped near Pune for nearly a month.

Jagdale was arrested on information provided by his friend Anupam, who was held June 27, a police officer said.

"Jagdale was booked for raping a woman for over two years on the pretext of marrying her. The woman, a former journalist, was forced to go through abortion twice during that period," he said.

He was booked March 14 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, and will now be presented in a Gurgaon court July 1.

Police had announced a reward of Rs.10,000 for the arrest of Jagdale, who hails from Bhilai, Madhya Pradesh, and worked with a multinational oil firm.
