A 26-year-old undertrial lodged in Gurugram's Bhondsi jail was found hanging inside the barrack on Friday, a jail official said.
Vishal Kumar was facing trial in a case registered against him under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at Gurugram's Sadar police station.
"Kumar was lodged in jail since October 18 and was mentally disturbed. He was under treatment at the Civil Hospital here," Jail Superintendent Harender Singh said.
The deceased hailed from Ratanpura village in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district.
"No one from his family or friends had come to meet him since he was put behind bars," Singh said.
"The deceased used a bed sheet to hang himself from a ventilation grille in a jail barrack. No suicide note was found," the jail official added.
