The State Vigilance Bureau in Gurugram has decided to launch a massive drive for prevention and detection of corruption, including in Panchayati Raj institutions.

This was stated here at a press conference on Thursday by Gurugram's newly appointed Special Director of State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) B.K. Sinha, who has assumed the charge of this post recently.

He said searches will be conducted and traps laid to nab the corrupt officials. He also said efforts would be made to free the Panchayati Raj institutions of corruption.

"As a part of this mission, we have already raided the Sarpanch of Mujeri village in Faridabad district a day before and recovered the money she was asking for completion of a contract job," Sinha said.

If the rural areas of Haryana become corruption free, a large section would be covered and the government's target towards 'zero tolerance' for corruption would be met to a large extent, he added.
