In a clear attempt to put detractors within the party on a leash, the Haryana Congress Friday announced that a disciplinary committee would be constituted to deal with leaders who try to defame the party.
Haryana Congress president Phool Chand Mullana said in a statement here that "indiscipline will not be tolerated in the party and leaders making statements against party leadership would invite disciplinary action".
The diktat comes after senior leaders of the ruling Congress in Haryana openly criticised the policies of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led government in the state.
Some of these leaders even accused the Hooda government of discriminating against certain areas of the state, particularly south Haryana.
The big names among detractors are union minister Selja, MP Birender Singh and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh.
Mullana said: "Action would be taken against those leaders who make statements against party leadership as per the policy and guidelines of the high command. A disciplinary committee is being constituted on the directions of the high command to deal with such issues."

He said that the leaders (detractors) should introspect before issuing any anti-party statements.
"They should always remain indebted to the Congress party for achieving the status where they stand today. Such leaders should not forget that today what they are, was just because of the Congress party."
"For the past some time, a few of the leaders of the party have taken up an agenda to defame the party leadership on the issue of discrimination in developments works in the state which is absolutely incorrect and not serving any good to the party," Mullana said in his statement.
He termed Hooda's tenure as an "era of development for Haryana".
"Congress is a big party and it is but natural that small differences could erupt even among the family members. However, to redress any grievances, a separate platform has been prescribed and one should not make public the party matters," Mullana said categorically, without naming any leader.
